NEWSLETTER #3

24/08/26

Hi all, round three. The end of August is approaching at an alarming rate, and with it a busy bank holiday weekend of gigs.

News

First up, this Friday I'm playing with my old band Hoaster! I'm joining Oli and the gang on guitar and backing vocal duties for their gig at Thekla. It's been two and a half years since I played my last gig with them... so this'll be a special one! Also, it's Thekla. What a privilege it is to play it not once but TWICE this year. Tickets are in the link section below.

On Saturday I play two more gigs with Oli, but this time in our covers outfit 'HOVIS'. First we play Tavernfest in the sunshine (hopefully) then after we're headed a few doors down to Dragonkiss. So lots of chances to hear all your favourite bangers that day.

Finally, come Sunday I'll be back in Bristol playing The Wave - they do gigs apparently?? Excited for this one, I asked if they could teach me to surf as well and they were game. Happy days. Will be a lovely way to end the weekend, as somehow I've ended up having the Monday off. Phew.

Before any of that though, the Waxwings and I are in the studio again today, recording the last bits for our upcoming three singles. I will post all our shenanigans on my Instagram story as and when. I'm a bit nervous now it's all coming to head, but everything is sounding amazing. You'll hear two new songs before the end of the year.

One last thing, I've finally got round to making an archive of every gig I've ever played. Well, since 2020 anyway. Still working on the 10's. It's been nice looking back. If you're interested you can find it on the gigs page of my website, or in the links below.

What I'm reading / watching / listening to

Book: The Trials of the King of Hampshire by Elizabeth Foyster

"Madness, Secrecy and Betrayal in Georgian England" - very apt. It tells the story of the insanity trial of John Wallop, 3rd Earl of Portsmouth. All his family's dirty laundry gets laid out bare, revealing, among many other scandalous things, the upper crusts troubling attitudes towards mental disorders at the time. It's a great read and a useful lens into a period of English history I personally knew very little about.

NEWSLETTER #2 10/08/26 Hello all, welcome to newsletter: the sequel. Some housekeeping, the first edition reached all of my subscribers. Hurrah! However not everyone opened it, as it ended up in some peoples spam / junk folders. Hmm. I'll look at this on my end, but for now if it's going in your spam folder I'd encouraged you to report it as 'not spam / junk' wherever you do that on your email platform. Aside from that and a couple formatting quirks everything is good in newsletter land. We've...

NEWSLETTER #1 03/08/26 Hello all, it's been a minute! First off, thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. It might seem a bit old school but I find social media is carnage at the best of times; this way you'll reliably see everything I do. I plan to send this out weekly with everything myself and the Waxwings get up to; uploads, demos, band news, video shoots etc. You'll be first to know. Speaking of, a little catch up. News After a great gig at Minety Festival last month I decided to let...
