Hello all, welcome to newsletter: the sequel.
Some housekeeping, the first edition reached all of my subscribers. Hurrah! However not everyone opened it, as it ended up in some peoples spam / junk folders. Hmm. I'll look at this on my end, but for now if it's going in your spam folder I'd encouraged you to report it as 'not spam / junk' wherever you do that on your email platform.
Aside from that and a couple formatting quirks everything is good in newsletter land. We've even got some new subscribers since last week! Thank you folks old and new, here goes round two.
News
First off, I released a reel on Instagram / Facebook last week that that at time of writing has 16,000 views - making it my best performing video on those platforms by many, many multiples. I'll link it below; in short I end up not having a guitar I need on stage and I look like a wally. It was funny when it happened and I was pleased with the edit, but nevertheless I'm very surprised at the reach it's had. Feels encouraging.
I had three solo gigs last week. Friday I was at City Arms in Wells, which is a lovely venue. They have a low hanging light in stage area that I managed to hit with my head just once this time round. Saturday was a nice outdoor function in Shapwick, and Sunday was a morning gig at Taunton Independent Market, also in the sunshine. Never fails to be uplifting playing at the market, it's organised by the same wonderful people who do the outdoor one in Weston, which I'll be playing on Wednesday!
It was a privilege playing Thekla Bristol just once this year. But twice?! Later this month I'm on guitar and vocal duties for my old band Hoaster, playing at 'make waves three' alongside The Pavilion, Nova Park and The Malarkey. Oli's running the band as a solo project nowadays but still plays with a 4-piece band live, and I was fortunate enough to get the call for this gig. I co-wrote some of the songs we'll be playing, so it'll be a real joy revisiting those again, as well as performing Hoaster material old and new. I'll share the ticket link below.
Lastly, this Sunday the Waxwings are in the studio for recording day 1 of 2. Three new singles - excited is an understatement! I'll be jetting off to The Brit Bar afterwards to host this weeks open mic.

What I'm reading / watching / listening to
Movie: The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan.
I watched with my partner and friends at our local IMAX screen last week. Interest in Greek mythology is fully re-invigorated. 10/10, go see.
Have a good week!
