NEWSLETTER #1

03/08/26

Hello all, it's been a minute!

First off, thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. It might seem a bit old school but I find social media is carnage at the best of times; this way you'll reliably see everything I do. I plan to send this out weekly with everything myself and the Waxwings get up to; uploads, demos, band news, video shoots etc. You'll be first to know.

Speaking of, a little catch up.

News

After a great gig at Minety Festival last month I decided to let all things original music cool down for a few weeks. Namely because after The Underdog wrapped up it seemed a good time to take stock and relax. It was quite a roller coaster.

There's been a few changes in the time since. Our drummer David has left the Waxwings, Minety being his last gig with us. In the time since our first three-piece gig at The Fleece last year we've gone all the way to the O2 Academy together. As well as being a gifted musician he's a close friend and he's been a wonderful presence in the band. We all miss him but I'm glad he has more time for his other creative pursuits now. Thanks again Dave.

Good news however, before he steps back he's recording three singles with us. We've booked a couple days at Humm Studios in Bristol, which will be the first time we've recorded as a full band. We've been gigging these songs as a 5-piece for the better part of a year now, so I'm confident this'll be our best work yet. You should hear at least two of them before 2027.

In preparation for the studio we've needed to put some demos together - a blueprint of the recorded song essentially. As thanks for joining my newsletter early I figured I share one of those with you. As of right now it only has Ben and I on it, so it's pretty bare bones, but I think it has a cosy quality to it.

NEWSLETTER #3 24/08/26 Hi all, round three. The end of August is approaching at an alarming rate, and with it a busy bank holiday weekend of gigs. News First up, this Friday I'm playing with my old band Hoaster! I'm joining Oli and the gang on guitar and backing vocal duties for their gig at Thekla. It's been two and a half years since I played my last gig with them... so this'll be a special one! Also, it's Thekla. What a privilege it is to play it not once but TWICE this year. Tickets are...

NEWSLETTER #2 10/08/26 Hello all, welcome to newsletter: the sequel. Some housekeeping, the first edition reached all of my subscribers. Hurrah! However not everyone opened it, as it ended up in some peoples spam / junk folders. Hmm. I'll look at this on my end, but for now if it's going in your spam folder I'd encouraged you to report it as 'not spam / junk' wherever you do that on your email platform. Aside from that and a couple formatting quirks everything is good in newsletter land. We've...
